About the C95 Radio Marathon

The 8th Annual Radio Marathon for Breast Cancer was held October 25th and 26th at the Market Mall. Every dollar raised is donated to the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency and is designated to research and finding a cure for Breast Cancer.
Everyone knows someone who could be, or already has been, affected by this disease. One in every 9 women in Canada will be diagnosed with breast cancer sometime in their lifetime.
We at C95 know how close to home this disease can strike. In July 2000, our co-worker and friend, Lisa Rendall was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer.
Together with Lisa, we made the decision to commit our Annual Radio Marathon to raising funds for breast cancer research at the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency.
In the fall of 2001, the C95 Radio Marathon was awarded the highest honour in Canadian radio, the Gold Ribbon Award for Community Service from the Canadian Association of Broadcasters.
Each year C95 encourages businesses, listeners and members of the community to pitch in and help raise money for this worthwhile cause. All of the fundraising efforts culminate in a 36-hour live Radio Marathon where we speak to breast cancer survivors, their families and cancer research specialists to bring awareness to this disease.
It's an emotional and inspiring 2 days of radio!
To date, Saskatoon and its surrounding communities have joined together to help raise WELL OVER 1.1 Million Dollars for breast cancer research!
C95 has pink synthetic silicone bracelets with the message HOPE COURAGE, CURE on them. These bracelets are similar to the Lance Armstrong Foundation "Livestrong" bracelets raising money for his cause. We have them available at Broadcast House on Saskatchewan Crescent. If you would like to purchase a bracelet, $2 each, with the proceeds going to the C95 Radio Marathon for Breast Cancer Research, come down Monday to Friday between 8a and 5p.
Today, Lisa's condition is stable and she continues to have regular treatments and monitoring at the Saskatoon Cancer Centre. She also remains a major participant and inspiration for the C95 Radio Marathon.
