Buh-Bye Albums

Do you think the art of creating music albums is going to die? According to recent research, Album sales are down another 11% this year. There has been a steady decline in sales ever since downloading became fashionable.

Maybe we are going to come full circle to artists just releasing singles, the way music was released before the Beatles revolutionized the genre and made the album the format of choice. This may be discouraging to bands who think that they have more to offer than one song at a time, but it may also bring back the "one hit wonder" phenomenon. I guess we, the consumer, will make the final decision for the artists and their labels. The more album sales decline, the more we may see bands just looking for that one big release to keep their fans happy.
