Bert Snubbed Me! UPDATE!

***Good news! Rob managed to get a hold of Bert on the phone and we have lined up an interview with him TOMORROW!  It'll be my shot at figuring out why Bert was such a jerk to me on Saturday!!!  Stay tuned..THURSDAY MORNING!***

Saturday evening was one of the saddest celebrity encounters of my broadcasting career to date. 10 years I've been doing this! And of all the famous people I've met, to have Bert from Sesame Street embarrass me so badly was, well, just depressing.

Here's the deal. Rob and I had the pleasure of taking listeners backstage to host a meet-and-greet with the cast of Sesame Street. Pretty cool experience!

Rob brought his awesome 3 year old daughter Alyssa, I brought my nephew Malcolm and his Daddy, my brother Mick (who was so stoked to see his fave, Super Grover he pumped his fist and yelled "Classic!" when Grover flew onto the stage) My nephew just shouted their names at random through the whole show. Elmo! Ernie! Bert!

That's all the good stuff.

The bad part came when Rob and I went on stage to introduce the show. We saw them all. Elmo, Big Bird, Cookie Monster, Ernie, Super Grover....and my personal favorite, Bert. Bert was seriously 10 feet away from me, waiting to go on stage.

I got so excited I started waving and calling his name, hoping for a smile and maybe a hug.

Nope. Nothing.

He gave me a furrowed-brow-Bert-annoyed-look and WALKED IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION! It was a complete shunning. SO humiliating. You could tell he thought I was a total freakshow loser face.

Rob is still laughing today. Mick has been telling all his friends. I'm sure other people saw, too. I probably made their night. I'm sure after the show, the cast was joking about "that loser chick from the radio waving like a maniac"...

Bert always was a bit of a downer on the show, anyway.

And I wore a special dress with yellow high heels for him and everything.
