Shauna's Book Club...And Cary Gets Punted From Man Club

SFBC last night...good times again! Lots of new faces... and old friends.

(Also the first night of the year it's been warm enough to bring out my favorite leather jacket with the wicked snake-head)

Thanks so much to Cakes G'lore and D'reens for all the wonderful goodies!

Sorry, I look a little psycho in this one. Cupcakes will do that to me and I hadn't eaten all day! I ate another one when I got home, great meal, hey?

So we did something different last night. After we reviewed Into The Wild (the BEST discussion we've had yet, BTW, thought-provoking and interesting) I debuted "Reader's Choice"...a new feature.

I secretly picked one of the gals to choose next months' book. A surprise for everyone last night. And Jodi picked something I'm very eager to read. "The Girl In Saskatoon" by Sharon Butala. A true story.

The Girl in Saskatoon centres on the unsolved murder of Alexandra
Wiwcharuk. The author, Sharon Butala,
doesn’t set out to solve the murder but instead takes a different
approach in looking at the commonalities in her life and the life of
Alexandra, who had been a childhood friend. A compelling read.

Nice pick, Jodi. I already have a couple surprises lined up for next month.

And yes, Cary Howe DID pick Book Club OVER NHL Hockey Playoffs. Well, kinda. He stayed about an hour. Rob and Dave have punted him from Man Club for sure. But I still love you, Cary. Should also mention we were joined by one of the dudes from Rock 102, our sister station. I shall leave his name out.

Well, ok, it was Chad.

If you'd like to join, shoot me an email, bookclub@c95.com
