k so, yeah because of alcohol people do vandalize public property but you know so do sober stupid people. Like i know people who are sober and vandalize stuff, I am not saying I am one of them but I saying that it wasn't a result of alcohol. Alcohol is already banned in the parks and stuff so if you are there and have booze then by all means ticket them but if you are in your campsite just having a beer and what not then thats your business.
The ban was instituted in response to a small number of irresponsible, selfish people who went to provincial parks, got drunk, destroyed public property, and assaulted law enforcement officers. Th easiest way to deal with that kind of behavior is to ban alcohol altogether for the long weekend. It's a classic example of a small number of people ruining a good thing for everyone else.
I think that the booze in prov. parks should be just like Germany works their drinking and driving laws. It isnt against the law to drink and drive in Germany, however it is against the law to be impaired while driving. That way you can punish the trouble-makers, while the people who just want a drink while camping... no problem
